[ PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH ]
The science is unambiguous: what happens in the first six years of a child's formal education sets the neurological, emotional, and academic trajectory for everything that follows. Brain development during this period is rapid, plastic, and profoundly sensitive to the quality of environment and instruction a child receives.
At Talent Shapers, our Early Years Kindergarten is therefore not a transitional space or a gentle holding area before "real school" begins. It is our most intentionally designed programme — staffed by our most experienced early childhood specialists, housed in a purpose-built, stimulation-rich environment, and governed by a curriculum that balances structured learning with the exploratory play that young brains need to develop optimally.
Every child who completes our two-year Kindergarten journey leaves PP2 as a confident, curious, and emotionally regulated learner — fully prepared for the rigour and collaborative demands of Grade 1 in our Primary CBC programme, and already carrying the first clear markers of the Shapers character identity.

[ TWO-YEAR STRUCTURED PROGRESSION ]
Each year of Kindergarten at Talent Shapers has a distinct developmental focus — building sequentially so that PP2 consolidates and extends everything established in PP1.
Ages 4 – 5 | Foundation Year
PP1 is where the Talent Shapers journey begins. The focus is on establishing the core building blocks of learning: listening skills, following instructions, name recognition, early phonemic awareness, basic numeracy concepts, and positive classroom routines. Children in PP1 learn through highly structured play, story-based instruction, song, movement, and hands-on exploration — in an environment designed to feel safe, warm, and gently challenging.

Ages 5 – 6 | Readiness Year
PP2 consolidates and significantly extends what was built in PP1. Children begin formal reading through our structured phonics programme, progress to number operations, and engage in increasingly complex collaborative activities. PP2 is also where independent learning habits are actively cultivated — preparing each child to step into Grade 1 with confidence, curiosity, and the self-regulation skills that make learning joyful and sustainable across the years ahead.

Core Learning Area
Our structured phonics programme introduces letter-sound relationships systematically from PP1, building to confident reading fluency in PP2. Children are exposed to rich picture books, oral storytelling, guided reading groups, and early writing activities in both English and Kiswahili daily.

Daily singing, rhythm activities, and movement sessions develop auditory discrimination and coordination. Integrated CRE forms Christian values, prayer habits, and moral understanding from the very first day of PP1.
[ DAILY SCHEDULE & ROUTINE ]
Routine and predictability are foundational to young children's emotional security and learning readiness. Our Kindergarten day is carefully structured to alternate between focused instruction, collaborative activity, movement, and restorative rest — matching the natural rhythm of the developing child's attention and energy cycles.
Morning Circle Time — PP2 Classroom
Children arrive, greet teachers, and self-select from prepared exploration activities — puzzles, books, drawing materials, and building blocks. This transitions them gently from home to school mode while building independence.
The class gathers for morning prayer, weather observation, calendar counting, shared news, and an oral language activity — establishing the day's emotional tone, practising social skills, and activating mathematical thinking.
Structured phonics instruction — whole group, small group, and individual practice. PP1 children focus on sound discrimination and letter recognition; PP2 children practice blending, segmenting, and guided reading in levelled groups.
Supervised snack time with nutrition awareness discussion, followed by structured outdoor play on our green grounds — developing gross motor skills, social negotiation, and restorative energy for the next learning block.
Hands-on maths using concrete manipulatives — counting cubes, number lines, sorting sets, pattern blocks, and measurement tools. Abstract concepts are always introduced through physical, tangible experience first.
Rotating creative arts, music and movement, and environmental activities — alternating daily to provide diverse sensory experiences, expressive outlets, and curriculum integration across learning areas.
Hot, nutritious lunch served in our dining area, followed by a structured quiet rest period. The day closes with a reflection circle reviewing what was learned, prayer, and orderly preparation for home dismissal.

Every decision about the Talent Shapers campus environment — its location in quiet Mwendantu, its full perimeter security, its controlled access protocols, its staff vetting procedures, and its child safeguarding policy — is made with one priority: the absolute safety and wellbeing of every child in our care.
Our Early Years classrooms are located in a dedicated, age-appropriate block with direct sightlines to outdoor play areas, child-safe furniture and fittings throughout, and a trained safeguarding lead available throughout every school day.
Fully fenced, gated campus with controlled single-point access and supervised entry and exit protocols for every child, every day.
All Early Years staff undergo full background verification, hold recognised ECE qualifications, and complete annual child safeguarding training.
Purpose-built Early Years block with child-safe furniture, rounded fittings, enclosed play zones, and constant adult supervision ratios maintained throughout the school day.
Daily verbal handover at pick-up, weekly communication notes, and a direct WhatsApp channel for Early Years parents to reach the class teacher or pastoral lead at any time.

Birth Certificate
Original + copy required. Child must be turning 4 (PP1) or 5 (PP2) in the year of enrolment.
Immunisation Record
Up-to-date Kenya Ministry of Health immunisation booklet required at enrolment.
