[ COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM CORE MATRIX ]

Three Tiers of Deliberate,
Rigorous Learning.

From the moment a child enters our Early Years programme to the day they complete Junior Secondary School, every phase of learning at Talent Shapers is intentionally engineered for deep intellectual formation, skills mastery, and character development. We do not teach for exams alone — we build lifelong learners.

Sensory Play Station

Building the Strongest Possible Foundation

The Early Years programme at Talent Shapers is grounded in the latest research on child development, brain science, and the science of play. We believe — and the evidence confirms — that what happens in a child's first six years of formal learning sets the trajectory for everything that follows. Our Kindergarten is therefore not a holding space before "real school" begins. It is, in every sense, the most important programme we offer.

Through structured sensory play, guided phonics immersion, early mathematical discovery, and daily social-emotional learning, we give each child the cognitive tools, the emotional resilience, and the curiosity to flourish across every subsequent year of schooling. Class sizes are intentionally small — ensuring every learner receives the individualised attention and nurturing consistency they need at this critical developmental stage.

Sensory & Motor Development

Tactile play, fine motor exercises, and structured movement routines that build the physical coordination foundational to writing, reading, and focused learning.

Phonics & Early Literacy

A systematic phonics programme that builds sound-letter awareness, decoding fluency, and confident early reading — in both English and Kiswahili from PP1.

Numeric Discovery

Early mathematical thinking through counting, sorting, pattern recognition, and hands-on measurement activities — laying the groundwork for confident numeracy.

Social-Emotional Learning

Daily circle time, conflict resolution practice, empathy exercises, and Christian values integration that build emotional intelligence and social competence from the very first day.

[ COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM — GRADES 1 TO 6 ]

Primary School CBC Matrix

Grades 1 – 6 CBC Aligned Competency-Based

Active Minds. Collaborative Learners. Cultivated Talent.

The Primary CBC programme at Talent Shapers is Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum delivered at its very best. Across Grades 1 to 6, learners are moved out of the passive reception model and into an active, inquiry-driven engagement with knowledge. They collaborate, they question, they build, and they reflect.

Our teachers are trained CBC facilitators who understand that competency-based learning is not simply a new name for old methods — it represents a fundamentally different relationship between learner and knowledge. Project-based units, portfolio assessment, and structured talent identification activities run alongside formal instruction, ensuring that every learner's unique strengths are mapped and cultivated from Grade 1.

Learner wellbeing, character development, and the Shapers Discipline Framework operate across all six primary grades — creating the safe, structured environment in which genuine academic risk-taking and deep learning can flourish.

Talent Identification & Cultivation

Every learner is assessed from Grade 1 for their natural strengths, learning styles, and emerging talents — which are then systematically cultivated through personalised activities and specialist enrichment.

Collaborative Project Units

Cross-subject project-based learning units that build teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving — assessed through the CBC portfolio framework.

Formative Assessment System

Continuous, portfolio-based assessment that measures competency acquisition, not just test performance — giving parents and teachers a rich, accurate picture of each child's progress.

Parent Progress Reporting

Structured termly parent-teacher conferences, CBC progress reports, and a parent communication portal ensure families remain active partners in their child's academic journey.

Where the Emerging Leader Takes Shape

The Junior Secondary School programme is designed for the emerging leader. By the time a learner reaches Grade 7, they have been shaped by six years of CBC formation and early character development at Talent Shapers. JSS is where those foundations are put to the test — and where the Shapers graduate identity truly begins to crystallise.

Interactive laboratory science, technology discovery modules, early coding, and a structured leadership development track ensure that our JSS learners transition into senior secondary education not just academically prepared, but intellectually curious, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely equipped to lead. Every Grade 9 leaver carries a portfolio of achievement, a leadership record, and a clearly mapped pathway forward.

Laboratory Science Workflows

Hands-on laboratory sessions in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from Grade 7 — building scientific method, hypothesis testing, and experimental reporting skills alongside theoretical instruction.

Technology Discovery Modules

Structured ICT, digital literacy, introductory coding, and computational thinking modules integrated across all JSS year groups — preparing graduates for a technology-driven world.

Early Leadership Training

A progressive leadership development track across Grades 7–9, including the Student Leadership Council, public speaking, mentorship responsibilities, and structured community engagement projects.

Research & Extended Projects

Term-long independent and group research projects that build analytical writing, source evaluation, and academic argumentation — the core skills needed for senior secondary and beyond.
